The successful candidate will manage the end‑to‑end process, from requirements definition through to delivery, ensuring high‑quality outputs and adherence to project schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings to scope requirements and ensure alignment with project deliverables.
  • Evaluate requirements and prepare quotations including cost, lead time, and supporting documentation (storyboards, project plan, CBS/WBS).
  • Produce build‑to‑specification or build‑to‑print documentation, compliant with design and quality requirements, legislation, and standards.
  • Adhere to ADS procedures for manufacturing, assembly, testing, and contamination control.
  • Apply GD&T in designs to ensure manufacturability; drawings to conform with Airbus Defence & Space and ISO standards.
  • Develop designs considering site plant and equipment capabilities.
  • Manage design reviews with appropriate Go/No‑Go gates (Kick‑off, PDR, CDR, Delivery Review Board).
  • Provide expertise in design, stress, and safety to complete statements of work; support more detailed analysis for mission‑critical items.
  • Maintain and update own hardware/software tools to current industry standards.
  • Assess and negotiate impacts of post‑kick‑off design changes in good faith.
  • Support internal and external procurement teams during purchasing phases.
  • Ensure designs achieve UKCA and/or CE marking, with full regulatory and safety compliance.
  • Maintain configuration management of all design data.
  • Interface effectively with Airbus IT systems (e.g., Windchill, DDMS, 3DX).
Qualifications
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in MGSE, tooling, or aerospace/defence mechanical design.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, design standards (Airbus/ISO), and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with CE/UKCA marking requirements.
  • Hands‑on experience with 3D CAD tools (CATIA, 3DX) and data management systems (Windchill, DDMS).

  • Understanding of safety, stress analysis, and compliance in mechanical systems.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
