Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

There is 1x permanent, fulltime post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Thursday (8am-4pm) and Friday (8am-3.30pm).

Gartnavel General Hospital Estates Department

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, resilient and hardworking Mechanical Multi‑Skilled Technician to join the team. The position requires maintaining a wide range of building services plant and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and operate and maintain safe and efficient systems of work for all building services.
  • Deliver mechanical services support to ensure the safe delivery of patient care and a planned maintenance, repair and installation service which represents quality and value for money.
  • Examine and inspect faults in plant and machinery, establish and recommend how faults may be repaired and discuss with managers /heads of departments regarding the possible effect on wards/theatres/patient etc.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance using work requests and completing all records and documentation required.
  • Work to NHS GG&C Health and Safety and SHTM Policies and Procedures.
  • Undertake minor alterations and modifications to existing services.
  • Organise and manage on a day‑to‑day basis the workload and priorities.
Qualifications
  • Recognised and registered EITB or CITB (or equivalent) craft apprenticeship or City & Guilds appropriate qualification.
  • Competent tradesperson with extensive relevant experience in building maintenance, preferably in the health care sector.
  • HNC or equivalent in a core subject with additional qualifications as required in the non‑core skills.
  • Will undertake training to be certified as a Competent Person and refresher training as required.
  • Show commitment to patient care, share values and demonstrate professional standards.
