Mechanical Maintenance Manager (University Estate)

£30.00 - £40.00 per hour (DOE) + Benefits

3-6 Month Contract. 36 hours per week

Are you an Mechanical or Maintenance Manager looking for a prestigious contract with one of the UK's top universities planning and overseeing Maintenance on site?

Join a top UK Universities Estates & Facilities Management team, overseeing mechanical plant and systems across a diverse and historic estate. From listed heritage buildings to state-of-the-art research facilities, this is a technically varied role where your leadership and expertise will keep the campus running safely and efficiently.

The Role
  • Lead and manage a small team of engineers and contractors across planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate CAFM data and asset records.
  • Ensure statutory compliance.
  • Deliver and maintain PPM schedules and inspection records.
  • Scope, tender, and oversee small mechanical projects and refurbishments.
  • Liaise closely with departments, consultants, and contractors to ensure works are safe, compliant, and within budget.
  • Provide leadership, motivation, and professional development to the maintenance team.
The Person
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Building Services or related Engineering field.
  • Proficient in CAFM systems.
  • Track record in mechanical maintenance management within estates, FM or similar.
  • Strong understanding of H&S legislation, statutory inspection regimes, and compliance documentation.
  • Confident team leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent desirable.
