Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance and production machinery operation.
  • Practical hands-on mechanical ability with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with production machinery (essential).
  • Current UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Routine setting up, servicing, and repairs of sewing machines and production machinery.
  • Attend to machine breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades and new installations.
  • Complete and manage hot work permits.
  • Perform daily maintenance and repairs of the Treatment Plant.
  • Maintain accurate work records and maintenance logs.
  • Ensure Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Hygiene procedures are followed.
  • Undertake call-outs as scheduled.
  • Assist with general building maintenance.
  • Correctly segregate and dispose of waste.
Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer & Treatment Plant Operator

Location: East Yorkshire

Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: £39,748 per annum + £5,565 call-out premium

Hours: Average 41.3 hours per week (rotating shifts)

Key Responsibilities
  • Routine setting up, servicing, and repairs of sewing machines, production machinery, and plant equipment.
  • Attend and resolve machine breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades and new installations.
  • Complete and manage hot work permits to ensure safe practices.
  • Perform daily maintenance, calibration, and repairs of the Treatment Plant (training provided).
  • Maintain accurate work records and maintenance logs.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Hygiene procedures are strictly followed.
  • Undertake call-outs as scheduled.
  • Assist with general building maintenance when required.
  • Correctly segregate and dispose of waste in line with procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Recognised qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance and production machinery operation.
  • Practical hands‑on mechanical ability with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with production machinery (essential).
  • Experience with paper converting machines (preferred but not essential).
  • A current UK driving licence.
