Job summary

Synergi Recruitment is seeking a mechanically biased Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a leading food manufacturing business in Hertfordshire. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on conveyors, gearboxes, motors, pneumatics and hydraulics, including welding and fabrication, to keep production equipment running efficiently.

The role requires strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Previous maintenance engineering experience within food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Experience with welding and fabrication, ideally MIG/TIG.
• Good understanding of electrical fault-finding, PLCs, sensors and variable speed drives.
• Experience working on automated production or packaging machinery.
• Ability to work independently within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on production machinery.
• Work on conveyors, gearboxes, motors, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Carry out welding, fabrication and mechanical repairs where required.
• Maintain and repair packaging machinery, ovens, fryers and other production equipment.
• Support continuous improvement projects to improve equipment reliability.
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime.
