Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is working with a well-established manufacturing business in the Ammanford area to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent three-shift rotation.

This role focuses on maintaining plant performance, supporting production targets and driving continuous improvement across the site, with a circa 42,000 salary and company pension. You'll work in a supportive team on a well-invested site.

Qualifications

• A recognised engineering qualification such as an Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
• Basic electrical fault-finding experience and confidence on multi-skilled maintenance tasks.
• Welding and fabrication skills.
• Experience with mechanical drives, conveyors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Proactive fault finding and problem solving approach.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
• Undertake basic electrical fault finding and support electrical repairs as required.
• Complete welding and fabrication work to support breakdown repairs and improvements.
• Maintain mechanical systems including bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, motors, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability.
• Work closely with production teams to maximise machine availability.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with standards.
