Job description

I am looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to service production needs in regards to regular maintenance, engineering issues and machinery breakdowns. All maintenance activities are in compliance with ISO 9001: 2000, ISO 14001 and other customer specific standards as relevant.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • To carry out routine servicing and inspection on all production machinery and mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Use the preventative maintenance system to reduce breakdowns and unplanned maintenance.
  • Carry out essential legislative testing of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • To work safely within the company's Health and Safety Procedures.
  • To identify and keep essential stock items at necessary working levels.
  • To assist the Engineering Manager in identifying process improvements through elimination of downtime and other continuous improvement initiatives (CIP Process).
  • To assist the Engineering Manager with projects and developments.
  • Liaise when necessary with external contractors.

Essential Skills:

  • ONC, HNC or City and guilds qualified.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic experience.
  • Mig and MMA welding experience is essential. Tig would be beneficial.
  • Heavy / Medium engineering background.
  • Lifting and slinging experience
  • Computer literate. Can use Microsoft office. Use of PPM system such as Pirana or similar.
  • Driving licence.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Turning experience.
  • IPAF qualification. The job involves working at heights.
  • Some basic electrical experience.
  • FLT licence
  • Atex Experience
  • Gas burners / Gas safe registered

Hours of work are 7:30am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30am to 3pm on Fridays. Flexibility is required to work on Saturdays (paid overtime).
