Job summary

A leading food manufacturing company in Accrington is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a City & Guilds Level 2 or ONC qualification and experience in FMCG or food manufacturing. You will perform maintenance to minimize downtime and improve machine performance in a fast-paced environment. This role involves a Monday - Friday shift pattern and working weekends on rotation.

Work Schedule

You will be required to work 1 in every 6 weekends with the following Monday and Tuesday off as rest days.

Saturday 6:00am - 2:00pm and Sunday 7:00am - 3:00pm

About the role

Are you an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking to join a food manufacturing company based in Accrington? Ideally Engineers will have worked within a fast-paced manufacturing environment such as food or FMCG and will play a key part in minimising downtime, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Daily Duties
  • Perform planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems across the site
  • Quickly find and fix faults to reduce production downtime
  • Work with the engineering team to improve machine performance and reliability
  • Always follow health, safety, and food safety standards
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance work
  • Assist with projects, installations, and equipment upgrades when needed
  • Promote teamwork, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
Ideal Candidate
  • City & Guilds Level 2 or ONC qualification – ideally apprentice trained
  • Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing
  • Knowledge of pressure systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drives with strong fault‑finding skills
  • Works well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
