  • Perform reactive maintenance on mechanical machinery.

Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Location: Oldbury, B69 3AZ

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.00pm with half hour lunch break each day and Friday 7.30am to 12.30pm with no lunch break - 37 hours a week in total, paid monthly.

The Opportunity

This is a full-time permanent position, joining an established team of mechanical and electrical engineers of a successful manufacturing business, involved in the production of specialist steel sections.

Person specification
  • C & G Levels 1 & 2 in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Good fitting skills with the ability to weld and fabricate, along with hydraulic and pneumatic fault-finding experience
  • Experience of planned maintenance and continuous improvement/lean manufacturing
  • Well organised, self-motivated and capable of working to tight deadlines
Responsibilities
  • Performing reactive maintenance on a variety of mechanical machinery across the site
  • Supporting the day-to-day manufacturing process in the most efficient manner, whilst working within a team structure
  • Effective recording and monitoring of all engineering/production-based issues
  • Troubleshooting problems and suggesting improvements to prevent reoccurrence
  • Communicating with Production Managers / Team Leaders on progress of issues
  • Completing scheduled maintenance
  • Investigating faults with plant and equipment, completing any necessary repairs, and reporting status within the maintenance recording system.
