Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Job Type: Permanent

Reed Engineering are working with a successful global research-based pharmaceutical organisation who require a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliable and compliant operation of estate-wide services and equipment, serving all business functions at their European Knowledge Centre facility.

Day‑to‑day of the role
  • Report to the Engineering Manager and deliver high‑standard mechanical and electrical services throughout the business.
  • Plan and undertake routine scheduled maintenance of plant and/or equipment, coordinating with stakeholders to minimise disruption.
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation (1 in 6), which includes weekend and bank holiday duties such as blowing down boilers and conducting plant room checks.
  • Work staggered hours, alternating weekly between early and late starts (07:30 to 16:00 one week and 09:30 to 18:00 the next).
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering (BS7671 & C&G 2391) or Mechanical Engineering (full‑term apprenticeship).
  • Proficiency in using computers with Windows operating system.
  • Strong awareness of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Multi‑skilled in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience with CMMS and BMS systems is essential.
