Job description
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Day Shift → Rotating Shifts in 2026)

Location: Burnley

Term: Permanent

Salary: £41,000 + Benefits Day shift

Shifts: Day Shift 7:30‑16:00 Monday‑Friday.

Call outs (after probation): 1 in 6 week rotation (Mon 7:00 am - Thu 7:00 am). Call‑out payment included.

Attention – All candidates will be on day shift until April/May 2026 and then a day‑shift to back‑shift rotation will take place (4 weeks of days followed by 4 weeks of back shift; you will not be on call‑out when you are working the back shift).

Back Shift – Monday‑Thursday 3 pm‑11:30 pm, Friday 11:00 am‑4:00 pm + 26 % shift premium.

What will I be doing?

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will work within an established reliability engineering team to carry out routine planned maintenance on a variety of on‑site process equipment, following a structured preventive maintenance schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Responding to machine breakdowns safely and effectively
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults within your competence level
  • Working with equipment and systems such as:
    • CNC machinery
    • Automation
    • Controls
    • Heat treatment systems
    • Pressure systems
    • Site services
    • Hydraulic schematics and machine drawings
Shift Information

This is a day‑shift role until April/May 2026, after which a 4‑week day‑shift / 4‑week back‑shift rotation will begin.

Day Shift: Monday‑Friday, 07:30‑16:00.

Back Shift: Monday‑Thursday 15:00‑23:30, Friday 11:00‑16:00.

What do you need from me?
  • Time‑served mechanical engineer
  • HNC qualification desirable
  • Competence with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)
  • Experience within an engineering or production environment
  • Basic electrical understanding
  • FLT / IPAF licence (training provided if required)
