Mechanical Maintenance Installation Technician
East Midlands (Leicestershire & Nottinghamshire) | Permanent | Hands‑On Role

Are you a mechanically minded technician looking for a varied role where no two days are the same? Join a forward‑thinking utilities team and be part of keeping vital wastewater recycling assets operating efficiently across the East Midlands.

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Installation Technician, you will respond to both planned improvement works and reactive failures across a wide range of mechanical wastewater assets. You will work mainly on sewage pumping stations and treatment works, carrying out installation, repair, and replacement of equipment such as:

  • Pipework, valves, and flow meters
  • Pumps and screening equipment
  • Scraper bridge equipment, bearings, stub shafts
  • Gearboxes and drive units

You will also support local maintenance teams with planned and reactive tasks, using your diagnostic, problem‑solving, and fabrication skills to keep equipment running safely and efficiently. You may be based at one of our main treatment works or start directly from home to travel to sites within the area. A company vehicle, laptop, and all necessary PPE will be provided.

⚙️ Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical wastewater assets
  • Carry out fault diagnostics and timely repairs
  • Support electrical and multi‑skill training where required
  • Assist in improving safety standards and driving environmental excellence
  • Order spares, chase suppliers, and provide feedback on maintenance activities
  • Participate in a 24/7 standby rota if required
Experience & Skills
  • Completed mechanical apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience with mechanical industrial equipment (pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems)
  • Experience in proactive maintenance and fault diagnostics
  • Basic electrical knowledge, with a willingness to develop multi‑skills
  • Familiarity with control systems and IT‑based maintenance records
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Desirable
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in electrical skills and 18th Edition
  • Previous experience in a similar industry
