Job summary

A recruitment agency specializing in engineering roles is seeking a Mechanical Installation Engineer to work across the UK, installing automated systems. The position offers a competitive salary of £40k - £45k plus OTE of £65k - £75k including paid overtime and travel allowance. A Level 3 Engineering qualification and previous experience in mechanical roles are preferred. The candidate will also benefit from a home-based role when not travelling, 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, and a generous pension scheme.

Mechanical Installation Engineer

Nottingham – Working from home when not travelling across UK

Salary: c£45,000 (OTE c£75k incl Paid Overtime/travel time) + Half Day Friday + DIS + 25 Days Holiday + Stats + Fleet van + All expenses paid for during workday (food/hotel/fuel)

The company

Our client is a leading provider of mechanical engineering services in the area, supplying, designing and installing bespoke materials handling equipment and special purpose machinery.

Well established in the area, they have built a strong reputation for delivering quality service to their clients nationwide in the FMCG and Logistics industries.

Their team designs and assembles a variety of products, including conveyor systems, robots, structural steel work, crane systems, and more before installation & commissioning on client sites. They pride themselves in providing a high standard of craftsmanship and innovation, working with multi‑billion‑pound businesses across the UK.

As a business they are experiencing growth and a consistent large volume of incoming projects with a full order book many years into the future. These vacancies are urgently required to provide installation support to a VIP customer on their innumerable sites across the UK. The successful Installation Engineers will help manage this account to allow for a closer business‑to‑business relationship and control over the projects.

The role

As a Mechanical Installation Engineer, you will form an integral part of the project team with a huge level of responsibility installing £multi‑million automated systems including conveyors, robots and sortation machinery on some of the most forward‑thinking automated sites in the UK.

Day to day responsibilities will include;

  • Initially attending client site to find measurements and layout the full system in chalk using laser measurements for dimensions.
  • Bringing in the automated systems – secure, install and build unit.
  • Commissioning – practical run through and snagging.
  • PM sign off before moving to next installation.

These installations could consist of entire new units in brand new facilities or an updated segment of a system during a facility upgrade which would be integrated into an existing automated line.

What we’re looking for in a candidate
  • Previous experience working in a mechanical role – Fabrication/Field Service/Mechanical Fitting.
  • Experience installing conveyor systems in any environment.
  • A mechanically biased engineer looking for a very travel heavy role.
  • A Level 3 Engineering qualification would be highly advantageous.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Desire to be in a client facing role.
  • Highly self‑motivated.
  • Full eligibility to work in the UK.
