Job summary

A leading engineering and manufacturing business in Woking is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector. The role involves inspecting machined, cast, and plated components, producing inspection documentation, and ensuring quality standards. Candidates should possess at least 3 years of experience and strong understanding of engineering drawings and ISO 9001. This is a full-time position with a 3-month fixed term contract.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical inspection within manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing.
  • Experience using CMMs and first-principles tools.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect a wide range of components using measurement techniques.
  • Create CMM programmes and inspect CNC-machined parts.
  • Produce inspection documentation such as FAIRs and Control Plans.

Job Description

Mechanical Inspector

Rate: 20 per hour

Location: Woking

Hours: MondayFriday 07 : 3016 : 00 (40 hours per week)

Contract: 3-month fixed term contract with potential to go permanent

Are you an experienced Mechanical Inspector looking for your next opportunity Were supporting a leading engineering and manufacturing business in Woking who are looking for a skilled inspector to support their Quality and Machine Shop teams.

Mechanical Inspector Duties

Youll be responsible for inspecting a wide range of machined cast moulded and plated components carrying out dimensional visual and functional checks across all stages of the manufacturing process. This includes :

  • Inspecting components and products using first-principle measurement techniques
  • Creating CMM programmes and inspecting CNC-machined parts
  • Conducting roving inter-stage and final inspections
  • Producing inspection documentation such as FAIRs and Control Plans
  • Verifying supplier first shipments and high-risk supplied materials
  • Updating the ERP system and providing feedback to internal teams
  • Ensuring safe working practices and maintaining excellent housekeeping standards
Mechanical Inspector Profile
  • Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical inspection within manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing
  • Experience using CMMs (e.g. Aberlink Axiom) non-contact measurement systems and first-principles tools such as micrometers verniers height gauges DTIs and slip gauges
  • Ability to generate detailed First Article Inspection Reports and Control Plans
  • Experience working to ISO 9001 standards (desirable)
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification beneficial
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
