Job summary

A leading aerospace company is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to travel to various supplier facilities for visual and dimensional inspections of manufactured parts. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in aerospace inspections and must be proficient in using various mechanical inspection tools. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to report findings directly through a web application. Competitive pay and on-going contract opportunities available.

Overview

Industry: Aerospace/Defense

Position: Mechanical Inspector

Location: PORTSMOUTH

Duration: On-going contract

Frequency: as needed

Approximately 2-3 times a week

hours/week no guarantee of hours weekly; based on supplier shipment requirements.

Job Description:

  • The quality inspector - Mechanical, shall travel to various supplier facilities to perform visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and / or sub-assemblies.
  • Parts will be inspected to engineering drawings, customer purchase order(s), industry standards, and specifications.
  • The inspector will be required to report inspection accept / reject information directly to the customer via web application.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must have practical experience performing in-process and final inspections on complex machined parts, assemblies, and / or sub-assemblies.
  • Candidate must have minimum of 3years' experience performing inspections in aerospace or military / defense manufacturing
  • Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) or equivalent standard.
  • Must have the ability to read / interpret engineering including but not limited to; drawing, parts lists, specification, purchase orders (POs), etc.…
  • The candidate must have experience using various mechanical inspection tools, such as micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, thread gauges height gauges, CMM, and hardness testers.
  • Materials Such As: Steels, Aluminum, Nickel, Brass, Copper, Nylon, Teflon, Tubing
  • Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance to the AS9102 Rev B knowledge is required, AS9102 Rev C, is a plus.
  • Candidate must have and be willing to use personal cell phone and personal laptop to support inspection reporting requirements while onsite at supplier(s) facility.
    • Must be computer savvy and willing to use Verify Global web based email account when working for Verify.
    • Must be Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Consent for Background Check (every 4 years)
  • Consent for Drug Screening, based on program requirements
  • Completed Eye Exam based on program requirements.
  • Candidate must be within 50 miles of the supplier
