Mechanical Fitter

Location: Bridgwater, Taunton, Ilminster, Yeovil, Chard, Tiverton, Minehead

Salary: £18.50 + company benefits

Responsibilities
  • Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components and machinery in line with technical drawings and build schedules.
  • Carry out machine build, fitting of pneumatics, bearings, shafts, motors, couplings, and other precision components.
  • Ensure all machinery is assembled and completed in accordance with safety and quality standards, adhering to British, European, and International regulations.
  • Conduct functional and quality checks, identifying and resolving mechanical or alignment issues.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a skilled team while maintaining the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Support continuous improvement in build efficiency and quality.
Requirements
  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter or equivalent engineering apprenticeship/qualification.
  • Strong mechanical assembly and machine build experience (automation or special‑purpose machinery advantageous).
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings and assembly schematics.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
Hours
  • Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–4:30pm
  • Friday: 8:00am–1:30pm
