Job summary

Holcim UK is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter for Torr Works, a flagship quarry in Somerset. You will perform planned maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty equipment, work on crushers, conveyors and plant, and support a safety-focused maintenance culture.

Ideal candidates will have a Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Maintenance and proven welding, fabrication and fault-finding abilities, plus strong teamwork and problem-solving mindset. Career progression opportunities exist.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Mechanical Maintenance.
• Solid experience as a Fitter with welding, fabrication and fault-finding skills.
• Good communication and teamwork, proactive problem solving.
• Solid understanding of engineering drawings, maintenance planning and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance and repairs across site equipment to maintain performance and asset life.
• Respond quickly and safely to plant breakdowns with temporary fixes and permanent solutions.
• Apply welding, cutting and fabrication skills to support machinery integrity.
• Promote a culture of safety and excellence and help document maintenance procedures.
• Collaborate with site management and other departments to ensure smooth operations.

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team at Torr Works, our flagship super quarry in the heart of Somerset. What you’ll bring:

• A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Mechanical Maintenance (or similar).
