Job summary

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly site machinery inspections and sign off.
• Perform upkeep and maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
• Carry out planned maintenance checks.
• Handle emergency breakdowns and repairs.
• Perform daily troubleshooting.
• Control breakdown and repair documentation.
• Fit mechanical components according to blueprints.
• Fabricate parts using grinders, saws, and welders.
• Inspect and check equipment quality control.

Job description

Our client is a large, independent metals manufacturer. Due to increasing demand, they are recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join their busy site in Sheffield.

Duties include:-

• Weekly site machinery inspections and sign off
• Upkeep and maintenance of all plant machinery and equipment
• Carrying out planned maintenance checks
• Emergency breakdowns and repairs
• Daily troubleshooting
• Controlling breakdown / repair documentation
• Fitting together mechanical components, systems, and heavy machinery according to blueprints and schematics.
• Fabrication: Using tools like grinders, saws, and welders to cut, shape, and join metal parts.
• Inspection and quality control: Checking that equipment and assemblies are in good working order and meet specified standards.

Skills Required:

Mechanical engineering background, electrical knowledge would be an additional plus but not mandatory.

This is a 39 hour paid / 41.5hr clocked week.

Any overtime will be paid at time and a third in the week after the completion of 39hrs

Time and a half on Saturdays and double time for Sundays.
