Job summary

Dexters Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Skilled Mechanical Fitter in Manchester to assemble and test pump and mixer equipment. You will join an assembly team focused on quality and efficiency, with a customer-service mindset for internal and external stakeholders.

Role involves working from engineering drawings, testing procedures, and safe handling of components. Temp-to-perm for the right candidate, with OT opportunities and a strong benefits package upon permanent hire.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship within a Mechanical Engineering discipline (essential).
• Experience with PC pumps and wastewater product assemblies (desirable).
• Mechanical Seal knowledge (desirable).
• Extensive experience with PC pumps and wastewater products (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Assemble Pump & Mixer equipment following company procedures.
• Fit components and modules per engineering drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth build and install processes.
• Conduct production tests and complete accurate test reports.
• Record all work carried out for tracking purposes.

Skilled Mechanical Fitter

Pay Rate: £17.84 per hour plus 15% shift allowance. (£20.51)

Work Location: Manchester

Hours: Mon-Thu / & Fri / 12.00-

hrs/week

3-6 months Temporary to Permanent

OT available - 50% Weekdays & Saturday, 100% Sunday

Description:

As a Skilled Fitter for our Clients Industrial Pumps and Mixer business, you will work as part of an assembly team responsible for the assembly and testing of our client's pump & mixer equipment. You will take a customer service approach, both internal and external, with a view that the technical services you provide are there to support the efficient management of your workspace and assembled products.

You will be responsible for your own productivity output, utilising various manufacturing processes and disciplines. As a Skilled Fitter you will be keen to take on challenges, develop your technical skills potential as well as expand your knowledge and experience through a variety of exciting initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• -Assemble Pump & Mixer equipment whilst working to company procedures
• -Fitting of components and/or modules as directed by engineering drawings and technical specifications
• -Work closely with colleagues during build/install to ensure a smooth and efficient build process
• -Ability to conduct production tests to established procedures, and complete accurate test reports
• -Ensure all components which are being assembled are fit for purpose Operate machines or use hand tools and power tools to secure parts in place
• -Recording work carried out for tracking purposes

QUALIFICATIONS

• -Time-served apprenticeship within a Mechanical Engineering discipline, equivalent to either City and Guilds Level 3, or NVQ level 3 (essential) HNC/HND qualified or equivalent, with a Mechanical Engineering bias
• (desirable)

EXPERIENCE

• Mechanical fitter experience in, for example, valves, machinery building, compressors, etc, however NOT automotive (essential).
• Experience of PC pumps and wastewater product assemblies (desirable)
• Mechanical Seal knowledge (desirable)
• Extensive experience of PC pumps and wastewater products, preferably within a service background (desirable)

SKILLS, TRAINING OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE

• -Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office Excel,
• Word and Outlook) (essential)
• -Manual handling training/slinging & lifting training (desirable but training will be provided)
• -Basic Electrical experience (desirable)
• -Motor Wiring certified (desirable)
