Mechanical Fitter

Location: Hull

Hours: 4 x 12-hour shifts (2 days and 2 nights) 4 days off

Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor

Salary: £42,789.00

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to support mechanical maintenance activities at our client based in Hull. They are leading manufacturing site based in East Hull and a leader in their specialised field. This is a 24-hour manufacturing operation, and you will play a key role in keeping equipment running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance tasks under the guidance of the Engineering Supervisor.
  • Complete assigned work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and data.
  • Assess equipment performance and suggest improvements.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and operational policies.
  • Immediately report any unsafe practices or conditions to the Line Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience in a maintenance environment, ideally within heavy industry or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety systems, including lock out/tag out procedures.
  • Willingness to assist with tasks outside core mechanical duties.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to safely understand and operate mechanical equipment.
  • Committed to safe working practices for self and colleagues.
  • Physically fit and able to meet the demands of the role.
  • Flexible to work the required shift pattern.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of pipefitting, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and control systems.
  • Experience with installation work.
  • Experience operating forklifts, MEWPs or similar equipment.
Qualifications
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent).
  • Electrical qualifications/experience is advantageous.
  • Counterbalance forklift truck licence desirable.
  • Good level of numeracy and literacy.
