An established engineering and automation business is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to support the assembly, fitting, and installation of mechanical systems and automated equipment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background who takes pride in precision, quality, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and fit mechanical components, systems, and sub-assemblies in line with engineering drawings
  • Carry out alignment, fitting, and adjustment of mechanical assemblies
  • Collaborate with engineers and machinists to resolve fitting or design issues
  • Inspect components and completed assemblies to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment
  • Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities on-site when required
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area
Experience Required
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Assembly Technician within precision engineering or automated manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, tolerances, and assembly methods
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential)
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, or automated systems
