Job summary

A well-established mechanical services provider is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter located in the Barnsley area. The role includes working on a wide range of rotating equipment, such as pumps and motors, both in the workshop and on-site. Candidates should have proven experience, strong technical knowledge, and relevant mechanical qualifications. A full UK driving licence is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter working with rotating machinery.
  • Strong understanding of pumps, gearboxes, motors, and associated systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Strip, inspect, repair, and reassemble rotating equipment.
  • Carry out fault finding, diagnosis, and remedial work.
  • Mechanical fitting, alignment, and testing of equipment.
  • Working to technical drawings and engineering standards.

My client in the Wombwell area require x 2 Mechanical Fitters.

The Company:

We are a well-established provider of mechanical and electrical services, specialising in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of rotating equipment. With a strong reputation for quality and technical expertise, we support a diverse client base across industries including water, power generation, manufacturing, and more.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Sheffield. The role will involve working on a wide range of rotating equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, and associated mechanical components, both in the workshop and occasionally on-site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strip, inspect, repair, and reassemble rotating equipment
  • Carry out fault finding, diagnosis, and remedial work
  • Mechanical fitting, alignment, and testing of equipment
  • Working to technical drawings and engineering standards
  • Ensure quality and health & safety standards are met at all timesOccasional site work to support installations or urgent repairs
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter working with rotating machinery
  • Strong understanding of pumps, gearboxes, motors, and associated systems
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Apprentice trained or relevant mechanical engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC)
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
