Job description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established building services and maintenance contractor operating across London and the South East. This role involves mechanical installation, maintenance, and refurbishment work across commercial sites, supporting multi-trade projects alongside electrical and mechanical teams.

A large proportion of the work will be carried out at various commercial sites in the South East, with additional projects located within and around the M25, including London.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation, replacement, and maintenance of pumps, pipework, valves, and related mechanical systems
  • Use of hand tools and company-provided equipment to carry out mechanical work safely and effectively
  • Supporting other trades on multi-discipline projects and performing reactive maintenance where required
  • Managing workload independently while maintaining quality, safety, and compliance standards

We are looking for a practical, hands‑on individual with a can‑do attitude and willingness to learn. The ideal candidate will be confident in their mechanical skills, capable of problem‑solving on site, and able to work independently or as part of a team. The role involves manual handling and moving larger equipment using appropriate tools, so applicants should be fit and healthy.

Due to client site requirements, security clearance will be required (UK residency for at least 2 years & clean criminal record).

Package
  • £34,000+ (dependent on experience and qualifications)
  • Company vehicle and fuel card
  • Mobile phone, uniform, and PPE provided
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays
  • Death in service benefit
    Essential Requirements
    • Practical mechanical experience, including cutting, threading, and assembling steel pipework
    • Knowledge of nuts, bolts, valves, and gaskets
    • Ability to work independently and make on‑site decisions
    • Full UK driving licence
    Desirable (Not Essential)
    • Mechanical or plumbing qualifications
    • Health and Safety training (e.g., first aid, PASMA, IPAF)
    • Knowledge of London and the South East area

This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, skilled team with a contractor that values long‑term employment, professional development, and staff retention.
