I am pleased to present an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Manager based in South Yorkshire to work for a prestigious organisation. This position can be offered both on a temp to perm or permanent basis. The permanent salary ranges from £40,000 up to £51,000 with great benefits.

Essential Requirements
  • Manage all mechanical engineering works within the designated zone, occasionally supporting other disciplines or areas as required.
  • Prioritise and process requests for reactive and planned maintenance, coordinating with relevant sites and departments to arrange and agree specific works.
  • Ensure all statutory maintenance requirements—such as pressure systems, boiler servicing, and LEVs—are completed on time and properly documented.
  • Issue orders and instructions for maintenance works, ensuring compliance with legislation, Health & Safety codes of practice, and standard procedures and specifications.
  • Lead and manage a team of technical staff and contractors, inspecting works to confirm compliance with specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Deliver maintenance projects by developing design briefs, preparing specifications and tender documents, issuing tenders, and managing works through to commissioning and defect resolution.
  • Process orders, invoices, and documentation to maintain budgetary control and ensure value for money, while keeping accurate maintenance and statutory records.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with other staff to support smooth departmental operations.
  • Support the operation and improvement of the maintenance management and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) systems, including developing work instructions.
  • Oversee and develop maintenance contracts and programmes for mechanical systems such as building management systems, fume cupboards, gas boilers, specialist gas systems, clean rooms, and pressure systems.
