Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Mostly Remote – 2-3 days on site per month in Cumbria

Role Type: Permanent

Salary: £50,000 – £61,500 per annum depending on experience

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day‑to‑day engineering activities to ensure on‑time delivery and adherence to cost targets
  • Serve as the primary engineering interface for external customers and suppliers, fostering strong technical collaboration and communication
  • Provide expert technical support and innovative solutions to resolve engineering challenges related to mechanical products
  • Contribute technical guidance and engineering input to support supplier queries, build and test activities, defect resolution, and change management processes
  • Define, develop and manage requirements and acceptance criteria for mechanical products integrated within complex platforms, systems or programmes
  • Interpret and apply contractual and performance requirements throughout the product lifecycle, including design, manufacture, integration, installation and commissioning phases
  • Ensure all work is compliant with contractual obligations and conducted in accordance with company policies, safety standards, environmental regulations and established procedures
  • Review, assess and manage relevant supplier documentation, ensuring accurate capture, traceability and appropriate storage within the project framework
Qualifications
  • Proven track record in delivering mechanical systems across the full engineering development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive performance enhancements
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands‑on experience specifying a range of mechanical equipment and components such as heat exchangers, pumps, diesel generators, hydraulic systems and compressors
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BEng/MEng or equivalent) in a relevant STEM discipline
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartered status with a recognised professional engineering institution
  • Only UK nationals (no dual nationalities)
