A clean-shipping technology company in Southampton is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Design Engineer. You will play a crucial role in designing the AirWing system, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. The candidates should possess 3+ years of experience in mechanical or design engineering and a relevant degree. The role offers a competitive salary (£45k - £60k), hybrid work flexibility, and opportunities for career growth in a mission-driven environment.
We're seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Design Engineer to join GT Wings, one of the UKs most exciting clean-shipping technology companies. If you want to apply world-class engineering to a real-world climate challenge (and help shape the future of commercial vessel design) this is your opportunity.
GT Wings is at an exciting stage of growth. With its first full-scale AirWing installation complete and multiple commercial projects in development, the business is now scaling from prototype to production, building the future of wind-assisted propulsion. What sets GT Wings apart is its engineering-led, purpose-driven culture: innovative, fast-moving and collaborative, where technical excellence and delivery go hand in hand.
This is a rare opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Design Engineer to play a central role in the detailed design and development of the AirWing system, from early concepts through to manufacturing release and in-service support. Working closely with the Head of Engineering and cross-functional teams, you'll help turn breakthrough concepts into robust, class-compliant, production-ready hardware. This is hands-on engineering at pace, with meaningful climate impact.
Key requirements: You should be a capable and motivated Mechanical Engineer / Deign Engineer with a CV that demonstrates
Any exposure to marine or offshore engineering, large-structure or mechanism design, FEA, Inventor or similar 3D CAD, exposure to class/certification requirements (DNV/LR), actuation or control systems insight, familiarity with structural testing and validation is advantageous.
In return, you'll join an ambitious start-up at a pivotal time, working on leading-edge maritime hardware with support from experienced technical leadership. Expect a competitive salary (£45k -£60k DOE), hybrid flexibility (Hampshire-based hub), private health care and the chance to grow your career as GT Wings scales into global deployment.
