Job description

Location: Campsfield Immigration Removal Centre. Contract Type: Full-Time. Standby rota: 1 week in 4 – £175 when on call for a 40‑hour week.

What You’ll Be Doing

We are seeking a dedicated professional to carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance. The successful candidate will ensure standards are maintained and liaise with other Mitie engineers and subcontractors. A proactive approach to client liaison is essential, ensuring concerns are addressed or relayed to management as necessary. The role requires compliance with and enforcement of existing business risk management procedures for maintenance and project works. You will need to understand and complete all work‑related documentation accurately and on time. Participation in the standby rota for emergency calls outside normal working hours.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a Mechanical Engineer with substantial practical experience and comprehensive knowledge of all building services disciplines, including heating, hot water, ventilating, refrigeration, and environmental services. The candidate should be a flexible, team‑oriented professional with a ‘can‑do’ attitude and an intuitive, proactive nature. Detail orientation and a commitment to maintaining high standards are essential.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, or IOSH or equivalent.
  • CG/BTEC Mechanical Building Services Engineering Parts 1, 2, and 3, or NVQ Level 3.
  • CG 2079 F Gas or equivalent, HVAC or gas equivalent.
  • Good IT skills with the ability to produce reports from multiple sources/systems.
  • Complete all documentation correctly for all tasks and report reactive tasks to the CAFM system.
Specific Requirements
  • All offers of employment are subject to security clearance and enhanced background checks.
  • You must be a British Citizen, EU citizen with settled status, or hold ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) from a Commonwealth country.
  • Bankruptcy history, CCJs, social media activity and criminal convictions will be checked as part of the vetting process.
  • You must have lived in the UK for the past three years with no significant footprint outside of the UK other than for normal holidays.
  • You must be eligible for CTC clearance and hold a valid British passport or an EU passport with a Share Code.
  • You must have lived and worked in the UK for at least three years, without any extended trips overseas.
  • Applicants must have no criminal convictions and must not be subject to any ongoing police investigations.
