Having been named Building's Engineering Consultant of the Year in 2024, 2022 and 2021, we continue to lead the way in high-performance, low-carbon design.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Through our ambitious Zero Carbon Design 2030 goal, we are helping clients reduce operational and embodied carbon while driving positive change across the built environment.

Our Bristol office combines the opportunities of a growing team with the expertise and resources of a global consultancy. Working closely with colleagues across the UK and internationally, we deliver projects across education, higher education, workplace, science and technology, defence and mixed-use developments.

We're proud of the culture we've built. Our team is supportive, approachable and invested in each other's success, creating an environment where people can develop their careers, take on meaningful responsibility and make a visible impact on projects, clients and the continued growth of the office.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Bristol team and contribute to the design and delivery of some of the region's most exciting and technically challenging projects.

Working alongside experienced engineers, designers and specialists, you will develop innovative mechanical building services solutions from concept through to construction across a diverse portfolio of new-build and refurbishment projects.

Our work spans education, higher education, workplace, science and technology, defence and mixed-use developments, offering genuine variety and exposure throughout your career. You will work closely with clients, architects and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver sustainable, technically excellent and commercially successful projects.

As part of a growing team, you'll have the opportunity to take on responsibility early, build client relationships and influence project outcomes. You'll also gain exposure to project management, financial management, fee proposals and business development activities, helping you develop both technical and leadership skills as your career progresses.

Supported by technical experts across Cundall's wider business, you'll benefit from structured professional development, mentoring and clear progression opportunities. Whether your ambition is to become a technical specialist, project leader or future team leader, we will support you in achieving your goals.

The Skills

You will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline (BEng, MEng or equivalent) and have experience within a building services consultancy environment.

You will have experience in the design and coordination of mechanical building services systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation and associated systems, together with a good understanding of current design standards and industry best practice.

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Passionate about delivering sustainable, low-carbon buildings.
  • Curious, proactive and keen to develop their technical expertise.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communicators who enjoy building relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Motivated by taking ownership and making a tangible impact on projects and the wider business.

Experience with software such as Revit and mechanical design and analysis tools would be advantageous, although development support will be provided.

Most importantly, we're looking for people who enjoy solving complex problems, collaborating with others and want to be part of a growing team with genuine opportunities to progress.

Why Join Us?
  • Be part of a growing and ambitious team where you can make a real impact.
  • Work on a diverse portfolio spanning education, higher education, workplace, science and technology, defence and mixed-use developments.
  • Enjoy early responsibility and meaningful involvement with clients and project teams.
  • Collaborate with market-leading engineers and specialists across Cundall's global network.
  • Benefit from structured professional development, mentoring and support towards Chartership.
  • Gain exposure to project leadership, business development and client management as your career develops.
  • Join a business that prioritises sustainability, innovation and technical excellence.
  • Be part of a supportive, inclusive and sociable culture where people enjoy helping each other succeed.
