The role: We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Perth team. You will plan, design, organize, and oversee fabrication, assembly, erection, commissioning, operation and maintenance of mechanical and process plant installations from a quality perspective. This role involves managing fabrication projects to meet applicable standards, working closely with delivery teams, facilitating risk mitigation, managing NCRs, and developing quality control procedures, management plans, and work method statements. You will also liaise with vendors, suppliers, and fabricators to ensure quality assurance and factory testing compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of fabricated components, welded joints, coatings, and mechanical packages.
  • Witness FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) for pumps, valves, skids, and rotating equipment.
  • Review and interpret project specifications, ITPs, WPS, PQR, and client quality requirements.
  • Conduct supplier/vendor inspections (domestic & international) for material and fabrication compliance.
  • Prepare and review weld maps, test packages, dossiers, and inspection documentation.
  • Identify and document non-conformances; coordinate corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support project teams with inspection expertise and ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, ISO, and AS/NZS standards.
  • Organize and manage project labour and the delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Establish and implement standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance according to engineering principles, client specifications and safety regulations.
  • Inspect plant to ensure optimum performance is maintained.
  • Contribute to internal audits, continuous improvement, and post-project review processes.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities for major projects.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, processes, audits, and fabrication/erection requirements.
  • Proven experience developing Inspection Test Plans, Quality Management Plans, and quality control procedures per project specifications and Australian standards.
  • Experience inspecting incoming materials, structural fabrication, assembly, testing, and erection per engineering standards.
  • Strong knowledge in preparing welding procedure specifications and procedure qualification records.
  • Ability to establish standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection, and maintenance per engineering principles and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with Australian standards AS 4100, AS/NZS 5131, AS/NZS 1554.1.
  • National/International certifications (CSWIP 3.1, BGAS Gr.2, ASNT Level 2) preferred.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting contract documents, specifications, structural designs, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, etc.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, PDF editors.
  • Excellent leadership and team collaboration skills.
