About the role

Our engineering and design services have become an essential part of our solution offering and are increasingly requested by our clients. CPS is looking for a Mechanical Engineer looking to develop their engineering and design skills in the bulk materials handling, conveyor, and mining industries.

This position is based at CPS' manufacturing facilities in Welshpool and Bassendeanto provide engineering support to both internal and external customers including the fabrication and sales teams, along with the wider Fenner group. Occasional travel to and work from our other facilities and customer sites will be required, typically up to a week.

This position will report to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, and work with the broader engineering team.

Working from home on selected days is an option after probation.

Duties & responsibilities
  • Engineering support for CPS account managers and major clients.
  • Analysing and identifying conveyor performance attributes and issues.
  • Site inspections of conveyors and assessment of operating conditions.
  • Auditing of conveyor installations.
  • Working with the mechanical design team on engineering designs for specific client requirements, covering rollers, frames, pulleys and other components.
  • Design, optimisation and estimation of pulley designs and manufacturing.
  • Involvement on major project tenders and execution phases.
  • Failure investigations, root cause failure analysis, recommendation reports and other documentation processes.
Essential attributes
  • Tertiary Engineering qualification in a relevant discipline (Mechanical, Mechatronic).
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in an engineering capacity.
  • At least 1 year experience working with conveyors or similar equipment in a design or operating capacity.
Beneficial attributes
  • Experience within the mining industry and particularly design of conveyors and conveyor components.
  • Knowledge of welding and/or machining processes.
  • Metal working, fabrication, or manufacturing industry experience.
  • CAD and/or FEA experience.
  • Practical and hobby experience with mechanical equipment is also viewed favourably.

Salary Range $100,000 to $120,000
