Job description

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading operator of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Stations, to recruit for a Mechanical Engineer to join their CCGT Power Station in Rochester, Kent. You could also be based at their asset in Shoreham.

The vital Mechanical Engineer role comes with a basic salary of £55,000 - £60,000 + £2,100 south east living allowance + up to 30% bonus + overtime + LTIP + Private Medical + other excellent benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
  • Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Focusing on plant integrity and plant life maintenance
  • Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely, on time and within budget.
  • Deliver engineering best practice across all stations
  • Developing asset management strategies
  • Providing mechanical engineering support to the workshop team
  • Implementing maintenance techniques and best practices
  • Identifying areas of improvement
  • Engineering and managing mechanical plant upgrades/ projects.
  • Managing high value maintenance contracts
  • Directing mechanical technicians and contractors
  • Ensuring HSE compliance at all times
Professional qualifications
  • We are looking for someone with the following:
  • A minimum qualification of HNC Level and above is required in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering
  • Ideally a health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH
  • A UK Driving licence will be required as there will be travel required to other sites when needed
Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge
  • The Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone who has:
  • Excellent technical knowledge of Heat Recovery Steam Generator equipment and Rotating Plant
  • Ideally, engineering experience in the CCGT sector but candidates from Refineries, Paper Mills or other sources of power generation will be considered.
  • Knowledge of budgets and contract management
  • The ability to handle multiple work projects running together.
  • The highest regards for health, safety and environmental compliance
  • A valid driving licence is essential for this role as travel to other sites will be required
