Qualifications

  • Time served engineering apprenticeship with NVQ level 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
  • Proven experience leading maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Multi skilled engineer with mechanical bias.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and support a team of maintenance engineers.
  • Plan and deliver preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Manage maintenance spares, planning and reporting using SAP.

Overview

Mechanical Engineer – Location: Cliffe Vale, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 7AR. Hours of work: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday 7.00am – 3.00pm (with flexibility). On call 1 week in 3. Salary: £40,000-£45,000 per year depending on experience plus on call payment.

The job role

We’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Site Engineer to join our team at Cliffe Vale. You’ll lead and support a small team of skilled engineers, ensuring plant equipment is maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency and reliability. You’ll play a key role in reducing downtime, driving continuous improvement, and supporting long-term maintenance strategies to keep our operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach and support a team of maintenance engineers and contractors
  • Plan and deliver preventative and reactive maintenance across a range of process plant equipment (filtration, milling, conveying, mixing, pumping etc)
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, and Environmental standards
  • Manage maintenance spares, planning and reporting using SAP ERP
  • Support projects for new installation and refurbishments
  • Monitor equipment performance, identify improvements and contribute to energy efficient initiatives

You will
  • Be a time served engineering apprenticeship with an NVQ level 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering
  • Be a multi skilled engineer with mechanical bias
  • Have proven experience leading maintenance teams in a manufacturing process environment
  • Strong knowledge of modern maintenance techniques
  • Have a safety attitude first
  • Have strong IT literacy ideally with Google applications and SAP
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving and communications skills
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
