Job summary

AfterQuery is seeking a remote mechanical engineer to join on a project-by-project basis, delivering CAD-driven designs, analyses, and technical documentation for components, assemblies, and systems.

This role is asynchronous, with an expected commitment of 10–20 hours per week, and offers flexible scheduling, exposure to real-world challenges, and a strong portfolio boost as you collaborate with a YC-backed startup.

Qualifications

• Proven professional experience in mechanical engineering, product design, or a related field.
• Ability to produce detailed mechanical designs and drawings to industry standards.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Create, review, and iterate on mechanical designs and CAD models for components, assemblies, and systems.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation to manufacturing standards.
• Perform engineering analysis and support product development workflows.
• Document design decisions, assumptions, and methodologies clearly and reproducibly.

Job description

This is a remote, project-based role for mechanical engineers with hands-on experience in CAD and mechanical design. You will complete tasks spanning mechanical design, engineering analysis, technical documentation, and product development support. Work is asynchronous and assigned on a project-by-project basis, with an expected commitment of 10–20 hours per week for the projects you accept.
