Job Description

Your future team: Are you ready to ignite your career in engineering with thrilling challenges and ground‑breaking projects within Nuclear and Defence? Assystem Energy & Infrastructure is expanding its team in Derby and is looking for enthusiastic Engineers to join our innovative team.

Your Missions

• Review concessions of engineered parts and ensure they meet Engineering Standards, design intent, and update engineering substantiation documentation to ensure the component satisfies fit, form, and function.
• Have a good understanding of modelling and drawing practices and demonstrate appropriate CAD competencies for integration and modification activities.
• Be influential and experienced across all stages of the design lifecycle (e.g., creating analysis models using ANSYS or ABAQUS, producing tolerance stack calculations, developing and maintaining the master model and associated definition – model‑based design (MBD) and 2D).
• Have experience in Design for Manufacture activities and a deep understanding of manufacturing buy‑off processes, right through to supporting parts in service.
• Have strong manufacturing process understanding in machining, castings, forgings, rotary equipment, and an appreciation of welding techniques.
• Manage and maintain data integrity, with attention to detail.
• Created and maintain per company procedures, definition/drawing standards, models/definitions at component and assembly levels, examining interfacing components, and identifying problems based on nominal or adverse tolerance effects during manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate and communicate with design, manufacturing, and the wider integrated project team, offering support at gated reviews.
• Support junior team members and work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineering in the nuclear, aerospace, or regulated sector.
• Experience in ASME Y14.5, GD&T or equivalent standard.
• Understanding of safety legislation and obligations.
• High degree of knowledge around Design for Manufacture & inspection methods.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD systems (Siemens NX or similar) for model and drawing creation.
• Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcentre or similar).
• Professional qualification in an engineering related field.
