A major engineering company in the UK is seeking a Mechanical Industrial Engineer to enhance manufacturing processes. Responsible for integrating Lean principles and quality techniques, you will lead initiatives to improve safety and reduce costs. The role involves planning layouts, supporting production delivery, and managing projects from conception to completion. Candidates should have an engineering qualification, experience in production environments, and CAD proficiency. This position offers a 12-month contract with an umbrella arrangement.

Mechanical Industrial Engineer

Contract Duration: 12 Months - Umbrella

An excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Industrial Engineer Planning Lead to join a major engineering company. You will be responsible for designing and implementing production improvements across the manufacturing function. The position applies Lean principles and quality improvement techniques in line with technical and quality procedures, delivering innovative solutions to improve safety, reduce manufacturing costs, and support major capital improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement changes to factory layouts, tooling, and working methods.
  • Execute and support production processes to ensure on-time delivery in line with technical drawings, quality standards, standard times, and equipment specifications.
  • Maintain and update equipment records and the company asset register.
  • Support project management activities from concept through to completion, including benefit realization and documentation.
  • Develop technical specifications to support the tendering process and ensure value for money.
  • Manage contractors throughout the project lifecycle, from assessment to onsite delivery and handover.
  • Maintain and update process and equipment documentation.
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives as required.
Skills & Experience
