Job summary

ALTEN is a global engineering and technology consultancy delivering aerospace solutions from concept to production. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Farnborough team to support development of advanced composite structures and aerospace systems.

The role involves producing and reviewing drawings, applying GD&T and DFMA, supporting prototype and production builds, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure airworthiness and manufacturing robustness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5–9 years of Mechanical Engineering experience.
• Experience producing and reviewing drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong GD&T and design principle knowledge.
• Experience with design change management in a controlled engineering environment.
• Knowledge of composite structures and DFMA principles.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and DFMA principles.
• Experience supporting prototype and production build activities.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Producing, reviewing and improving engineering drawings and drawing packs.
• Supporting product definition activities, including GD&T application and configuration-controlled design changes.
• Contributing to composite structure design and development activities.
• Applying Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles throughout the design process.

• Ensuring engineering data provides a clear and robust route from concept through to manufacturing and airworthiness activities.

Are you a Mechanical Engineer looking to contribute to the development of innovative aerospace products from concept through to production?

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to join a high-performing engineering team supporting the design, development and manufacture of advanced composite structures and aerospace systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust engineering solutions in a highly regulated environment.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join Farnboroughteam to support our activities within theAerospacesector.

Key Responsibilities:
