The Specialty Camera Engineering team based in Ware, UK is responsible for developing cameras for long range surveillance applications such as border or coastal security. The products are aimed at public and commercial safety. The team is responsible for the development of the complete products including hardware, firmware and mechanics and takes care of the whole development life‑cycle that includes development, testing and maintenance of the systems we build.
Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement (office located in Ware).
Motorola Solutions is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Silent Sentinel team in order to facilitate the development of ongoing projects.
The successful candidate will be self‑motivated and can have autonomy in their work with the confidence to reach out when support is required. This person will collaborate with various stakeholders within and external to the engineering department as they work to produce reliable products and production methods.
The role of this person is primarily to design enclosures and mechanisms fit for harsh environments including (but not limited to) -40C marine conditions and MIL‑STD. Designs will be produced on CAD (SolidWorks) and be translated to both technical drawings and build guides. These must be legible to all who will read them in the production quality and manufacturing sectors.
Finally the successful candidate will have a great attention to detail as they will be inspecting drawings before they are released for manufacture. This attention to detail will be critical when testing prototypes or when assisting production with troubleshooting. Anyone successful enough to be invited for an interview must be able to demonstrate a basic portfolio with relevant work.
Ability to implement designs that are ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing would be an asset.
Being able to design and carry out relevant tests to help achieve high product quality.
Ability to justify design decisions with calculations, analysis and written documentation.
Experience in FEA and thermal simulation would be advantageous.
