Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Hospital Environment
Location:Maryleborne
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Salary:Up to £45,000 + Overtime & Benefits
Callout: None

My client is seeking a reliable and skilled Mechanical Engineer to join the maintenance team at a hospital site. This is a key role in keeping essential building systems operating safely and efficiently within a live healthcare environment.
The successful candidate will bring strong plumbing and mechanical maintenance experience, ideally gained within hospitals or other complex buildings. Knowledge of steam systems would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on all mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Support the operation of heating, domestic water, ventilation, and steam systems where applicable.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and hospital standards.
  • Work closely with the on-site facilities and engineering teams to resolve issues promptly.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and update service documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in system performance or reliability.

About You The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineer with practical mechanical skills and an eye for detail. They’ll be confident working in a live hospital setting where safety, compliance, and reliability come first.

Essential:

  • Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (C&G / NVQ Level 3).
  • Strong plumbing and pipework experience.
  • Good understanding of HVAC and building services systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with steam systems.
  • Previous experience working within a hospital or healthcare environment.
