Qualifications

  • Recognised mechanical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / HNC).
  • Proven experience working as a Mechanical Engineer within a commercial building.
  • Strong knowledge of cooling towers and associated systems.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on all mechanical building services.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning of cooling towers.
  • Maintain and repair pumps, valves, pipework, and HVAC plant.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults quickly.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards.

Skills

Mechanical Engineer

Location: Bank, London

Salary: £46,000 per annum

Hours: Split Shifts – 7:00am to 4:00pm / 10:00am to 7:00pm (Monday to Friday)

A leading facilities management provider is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a dedicated on‑site team at a prestigious commercial building in the City of London (Bank).

The successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering high‑quality mechanical maintenance across the site, with a strong emphasis on cooling towers and associated plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on all mechanical building services and systems
  • Perform maintenance, testing, and cleaning of cooling towers and water systems
  • Maintain and repair pumps, valves, pipework, and HVAC plant
  • Support daily operations and ensure building services run efficiently
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults quickly and effectively
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with health & safety, statutory, and environmental standards
  • Work closely with other engineers, contractors, and the client to ensure smooth site operation
  • Complete maintenance records, logs, and service documentation accurately
Skills & Experience Required
  • Recognised mechanical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / city & Guilds / HNC)
  • Proven experience working as a Mechanical Engineer within a commercial building or critical environment
  • Strong working knowledge of cooling towers and associated systems - essential
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, and water systems
  • Good communication skills and a proactive, professional attitude
  • Ability to work split shifts and adapt to site needs
