Mechanical Engineer

Chelmsford | Covering London & M25 Area

40 per week | 6:00 AM Start | Overtime + Call-Outs (1 in 4)

Are you a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer with experience in commercial pipework and a passion for getting the job done right? We're recruiting on behalf of a respected, family‑run business that takes pride in teamwork, quality work, and looking after their people.

You'll be joining a close‑knit, motivated team where your day‑to‑day responsibilities will vary. Typical duties will include installing and removing pump systems, carrying out pipework repairs using copper and mild steel, and handling a mix of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks. You'll also be expected to take ownership of jobs from start to finish and play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time.

What You'll Need

• Experience with commercial pipework (Copper & Mild Steel)
• Ability to lead jobs independently
• Mechanical Engineering Level 3 or Plumbing Level 2/3
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a team‑first attitude
• Motivation for overtime and willingness for call‑outs (1 in 4)
• Experience with pumps is a big bonus – but if you don't have it, full pump training will be provided.

Van provided once you've passed your probation – travel to and from sites across London and areas around the M25.

DBS not required initially, but will be arranged later, as the company works with schools and other sensitive sites.
