Mechanical Engineer

Location: Cambridge Science Park
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
Benefits: 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
Additional Benefit: No call-out rota

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Cambridge Science Park. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and efficient operation of all mechanical building services, systems and plant equipment across the site.

This is a stable Monday–Friday role with no call-out requirements, offering excellent work-life balance and long-term development within a modern building services environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical plant and building services
  • Respond to reactive mechanical repairs, faults and breakdowns
  • Maintain and troubleshoot systems including:
  • HVAC and AHUs
  • Pumps, motors, valves and pipework
  • Boilers and plant room mechanical equipment
  • Plumbing and drainage systems
  • Complete all work safely and in compliance with relevant regulations
  • Carry out mechanical testing, inspections and performance checks
  • Work closely with electrical and FM teams to ensure efficient site operation
  • Maintain accurate logs, service records and compliance documentation
  • Report identified defects, risks or recurring issues to management
Requirements
  • Mechanical engineering qualification: NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / HNC / HND (or equivalent)
  • Experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Technician or similar
  • Strong mechanical fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
  • Knowledge of HVAC, pumps, boilers, pipework and general building services plant
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage workloads effectively
  • Strong communication skills and team‑focused mindset
  • Understanding of mechanical compliance, health & safety and industry regulations
