Job summary

Assystem, a leading nuclear engineering firm, invites a Mechanical Engineer to join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit in the UK. You will report to the Turbine Island Senior Mechanical Engineer and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust turbine island designs.

Your role includes ensuring supplier deliverables meet requirements and supporting design development. You will develop and check design documents, participate in design reviews, and apply advanced CAD/FEA

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Senior engineering experience in offshore, renewables, nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
• Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
• Skilled with CAD: Inventor/AutoCAD and MathCAD.
• Skilled in producing design and substantiation reports and assembly procedures.
• Knowledge of welding, machining and manufacturing processes.
• Experience from Concept to Manufacture engineering design cycle.

Responsibilities

• Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit and support Turbine Island design development.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams and supply chain to ensure deliverables meet requirements.
• Develop and check design documents with Senior Engineers and assist in design development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Relevant senior engineering experience in sectors like offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries.
• Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
• Proficient with CAD software: Skilled in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or mathematical skills: Experienced with MathCAD software.
• Skilled in producing technical reports: Expertise in creating design and substantiation reports, assembly procedures, etc.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes: Understanding of welding, machining, etc.
• Experienced with the engineering design cycle from Concept to Manufacture.

Additional Information

• Familiar with European and Offshore standards: Experience with Eurocode 3 and DNV.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Skilled in checking and approving engineering CAD assemblies and drawings.
• Proficient in verifying engineering documentation: Manual calculations, reports, etc.
• Excellent Finite Element Analysis skills: In-depth knowledge of ANSYS Workbench is desirable.
• Experienced in non-linear and fatigue FEA: Familiar with DNV and Eurocodes.
• Due to the nature of the work, applicants must meet UK security clearance criteria.
