Job description
Overview

Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Water Production Division, based at Ashford Common WTW Site. You will use your mechanical & electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision to ensure our sites remain operational for our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding to identify issues, fixing or escalating as required; installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
  • Record work and asset information to improve business performance, identify future risks, and raise these for resolution as needed.
  • Provide specialist technical advice with up-to-date knowledge, and coach/train staff under supervision, including the apprenticeship programme.
  • Deliver an excellent customer experience and contribute to overall customer satisfaction; interact with internal and external customers professionally and promptly.

Base Location - Ashford Common WTW – TW15 1RU

Working hours - 38 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase earnings by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum after essential company training.

Equipment - All PPE, tools, plus a van when on duty and on call. You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or hold NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.

  • Problem solver, able to identify issues and implement solutions or escalate as required.
  • Excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
  • Resilient, able to adapt to changing environments and pressures of work.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and on own initiative to design to standards.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player who can work across different teams, respectful and supportive of development.
  • Full UK driving licence.
