Job summary

Turnbull is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Lead to supervise operations at Hinkley Point C. The role involves maintenance, fault finding and repair of critical utility assets across water and sewage networks, with strong emphasis on safety and KPI achievement.

You will lead a skilled team, coordinate with stakeholders, and drive efficiency and cost-saving improvements on a major civil project. The position requires NVQ Level 3 Electrical/Mechanical, AM2, and 18th Edition qualifications, with

Qualifications

  • Must have supervisory experience or aptitude for leadership.
  • Strong process knowledge in water and waste treatment.
  • Health and Safety training including SMSTS.
  • Ability to self-manage workload while supervising a team.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • AM2 Qualified.
  • Electrical/mechanical design qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance and repair of electrical/mechanical assets serving the dewatering network and treatment facilities.
  • Lead and supervise the Blue & White Hat team to achieve KPI and SLA targets.
  • Ensure safety culture and compliance with health and safety standards; manage risk assessments and RAMS.
  • Coordinate with site stakeholders to resolve issues swiftly and maintain quality.
  • Direct third-party contractor work ensuring value and compliance with standards.
  • Participate in planning and allocation of resources to maximise productivity.

Job description

Are you looking for a new challenge this year? If so, then we have a great opening for a Electrical/Mechanical Lead to join Turnbull and work on Europe's largest civil engineering project at Hinkley Point C.

What you'll do

Provide efficient electrical/mechanical operation, maintenance, fault finding, diagnosis and repair of NNB Generation Company's utility assets including potable supply network, water management network, sewerage network, sewage treatment assets and communications. Maintain a level of 100% environmental permit compliance, zero serious pollution incidents, within contractual budgetand with adherence to set KPIs.

The main part of your job will be providing supervisory (Black Hat) monitoring of the following:

  • providing a maintenance and repair function for the electrical/mechanical assets for the dewatering network, treatment and all associated assets serving Hinkley Point C
  • maximising all controllable factors to meet external quality targets
  • responsibility for the team to ensure relevant KPI and SLA targets are achieved
  • maintaining a culture of behavioural awareness to safety and reduce accidents / incidents protecting workforce from injury and company from prosecution
  • supporting improvements in team productivity to make the most of resources and being able to show value to the client
  • implementing efficiencies and innovations in operations to provide cost savings to the client where applicable
  • ensuring good liaison with NNB stakeholders – Site Operations, Environmental, Security, Construction Delivery Leads, Site Engineers, promoting a consistent approach
  • providing technical advice and swift resolution of any identified problems
  • supervising third party contractor work to ensure compliance with Health and Safety, standards and good value without risk to quality
  • managing interfaces with other departments, building relationships and getting fast resolution of any issues
  • responsibility for all risk assessments for ongoing works
  • planning of RAMS
  • Line Management of all Blue & White Hat personnel in the team

This role is 39.38 average hours per week – 4 on 4 off shift pattern. The potential of a 24/7 out of hours standby function is possible.

What you'll need

To be successful, you'll need:

  • minimum of NVQ Level 3 Electrical/mechanical qualification or equivalent
  • experience within supervisory roles, or evidence of aptitude
  • good process knowledge in water and waste treatment
  • Health and Safety training and field practice – SMSTS, Confined Spaces Medium Risk
  • ability to self-manage workload, whilst supervising a team in a highly agile environment, demonstrating exemplary safety and quality standards
  • previous demonstrable experience of people management within a construction site.
  • AM2 Qualified
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Electrical/mechanical Design Qualification (desirable).
