Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Fitter to join our maintenance team in Swindon. You will provide mechanical and electrical support for UK MOD projects, reading wiring diagrams and performing fault-finding.

The role involves field maintenance on water treatment-related equipment, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring safe, compliant operation on-site. The position is on-site in Swindon with travel within the UK.

Qualifications

  • Essential: NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
  • Proven maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair experience.
  • Full UK driving licence; willingness to travel within the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all conventional mechanical and electrical maintenance including water, hydraulic and fuel systems.
  • Read, interpret and fault-find using electrical and electronic wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Provide maintenance support on packaged equipment, mainly for water treatment-related work.
  • Inspect new equipment and prepare reports on recovered equipment from deployment.
  • Plan, participate in, and report on equipment/system operation; be familiar with water treatment chemicals.
  • Inspect, maintain and produce detailed inspection reports; supervise junior technicians as required.
  • Coordinate interfaces between different equipment packages to form a complete system.
  • Understand chemical handling and treatment processes where applicable.

Title: Mechanical/ Electrical Fitter About KBR and the Project

Your Role

We are seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Fitter to join our multi-disciplinary Maintenance Team. The successful candidate will report to the maintenance manager providing general mechanical & Electrical support to current and future UK MOD projects.


Role Responsibilities


  • Perform all conventional aspects of mechanical & electrical technical support, including water, hydraulic and fuel.

  • Able to read, interpret and fault-find using electrical and electronic wiring diagrams and schematics.

  • Provide maintenance support work on packaged equipment, mainly for water treatment-related work.

  • Perform inspections on new equipment and condition reports on recovered equipment from deployment.

  • Plan, participate in, and report on equipment/system operation and be familiar of the water treatment chemicals.

  • Inspect, maintain and produce detailed inspection reports on the equipment and able to manage junior technician.

  • Supervise the interface between different packages of equipment to form a well-integrated complete system.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of chemical handling and treatment processes where applicable.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians as required.


Required Skills & Qualifications

Essential: NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering.



  • Proven experience in the maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment.

  • Experience working with pumps, compressors, generators, hydraulic systems and associated control equipment.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics and technical documentation.

  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate UK Security Clearance.


Desirable


  • Previous experience supporting MOD or defence-related equipment.

  • Water treatment equipment experience.

  • Knowledge of control systems and instrumentation.

  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior engineers or technicians.

  • Familiarity with deployed, field-based or containerised equipment systems.


The role is based full time on-site in Swindon.
