Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join the SWMTF Project in the UK. The role focuses on producing and updating 3D models and detailed mechanical drawings for legacy storage and future waste management systems.

You will work within a collaborative, safety-focused team to deliver reliable design solutions. You should be experienced with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault, and hold at least an HNC in a relevant discipline; familiarity with BS EN standards is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Qualified to HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Experience with mechanical design principles and drawing standards.
• Willingness to work in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Produce and update 3D models and mechanical drawings (GA’s, sub-assemblies, layouts, MFDs).
• Support testing and manufacturing queries.
• Contribute to design risk assessments and technical documentation.

The Opportunity

Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. The Role

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Designer to join the SWMTF Project. This is a facility to provide interim storage of SIXEP and SCP secondary waste, with the capability to feed a future waste product management treatment plant (WPMTP). SWMRF has just submitted its Feasibility Stage deliverables which included possible baseline building footprints for three alternative technology options (footprints developed by Mechanical / Process disciplines).

As a Mechanical Designer you will produce and update 3D models and mechanical design drawings including but not limited to GA’s, sub assemblies detail design drawings, layouts, MFDs etc.

As a Mechanical Designer, other responsibilities could include:

• Providing support to resolution of testing Queries
• Providing support to resolution of manufacturing Technical Queries/production permits/concessions
• Provide design/detail design of machines, plant & equipment
• Involvement in the production of O&M manuals
• Involvement in the production of Design Risk assessment in accordance with BS EN 12100

As a Mechanical Designer , you will already be:

• Qualified to HNC Standard as a minimum in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge
• Experienced in the use of Auto desk inventor
• Experienced in the use of Auto desk vault Basis or Vault Pro (file management).
• Have working knowledge of the BS 8888, BS EN ISO 8015, BS EN ISO 1101 & BS EN ISO 5459
• Have knowledge of key legislation CDM, SoMSR, PUWER & LOLER
