Mechanical Design Engineer L4

JOB LOCATION: Stevenage

SECURITY: SC - Potential BPSS start

DURATION: 12+ Months Likely to extend

TYPE: Contract

WORK PATTERN: Onsite / 4 days a week on site; 1 remote (flexible over start/finish time)

PAY RATE: £45 - £50 /hr (Umbrella Inside IR35)

TARGET INDUSTRIES AND COMPANIES. Is Defence a must?
If not what industries can be considered
Defence/Aero would be ideal; other industries would be okay if skillset matches (Automotive etc.).

Overview of Department:

An opportunity to become part of Europe’s No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer’s needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to undertake cutting‑edge research of novel mechanical technologies to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Responsibilities:
  • Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
  • Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
  • Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
  • Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
  • Planning and reporting on own day-to‑day activities to meet project milestones.
  • Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity.
Skillset / Experience Required:
  • Experience using Creo 3D design tool

An ability to work as part of a multifunctional engineering team and be able to partake in or host design reviews. An appreciation of other engineering areas/domains
