Job summary

A leading energy recruitment platform is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Stevenage to engage in cutting-edge research and mechanical design activities. Candidates should have experience with Creo and be able to work in a multifunctional team. This is a contractual role with an hourly pay rate of £45 - £50, and a work pattern of four days onsite with one flexible remote day.

Mechanical Design Engineer L4

Job Location: Stevenage
Security: SC – Potential BPSS start
Duration: 12+ Months (likely to extend)
Type: Contract
Work Pattern: Onsite / 4 days a week on site; 1 remote (flexible over start/finish time)
Pay Rate: £45 - £50 /hr (Umbrella Inside IR35)

Overview of Department

An opportunity to become part of Europe’s No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer.

You will work closely with other functional teams to develop products to meet our customer’s needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to undertake cutting‑edge research of novel mechanical technologies to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
• Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
• Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
• Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
• Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity.
