Job Title

Mechanical Design Engineer – Fuel Spray Nozzle (FSN) Team (12‑month contract, Solihull)

Responsibilities
  • As a Mechanical Design Engineer within the Fuel Spray Nozzle (FSN) team, create engineering solutions that satisfy functional and physical requirements symptomatic of Product System and Sub‑System level environments.
  • Ensure the engineered solutions exhibit robustness for manufacturing capability.
  • Deliver component design definition artefacts (documents, models, definitions) that meet system level and sub‑system requirements, supporting on‑time delivery and quality.
  • Participate within an IPT described by Product Lifecycle System (PLS) and operate in accordance with applicable client Management System (RRMS) policies and processes.
  • Responsible for sub‑system integration of the technical activities for their design solutions and enabling lifecycle profitability through the Supply Chain Design.
  • Deliver design solutions of the FSN component(s), considering safety, manufacturing capability, product physical and functional robustness; address Unit Cost, Lifecycle Cost, Weight, Maintainability, Repair.
  • Perform Quality Assurance through checking of design documents, models, drawings in accordance with RRMS technical requirements and proactive Zero Defects approaches.
  • Carry out analyses using formula‑based calculations and/or automated workflows for dimensioning parts and components (e.g. stability, stiffness, profiles, balance point, weights) and underwrite design solutions against requirements.
  • Carry out physical testing / verification of manufactured component solutions using local test facilities.
  • Plan, manage and execute external designs via orders placed at design service providers or suppliers with design and production authorisation for complete devices (Design only / Design and Make Package) leading to approval of the designs and all documents.
Contract Details

We will only accept workers operating via an Umbrella or PAYE engagement model.
