Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Fakenham

Salary: £35,000–£42,000

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a small, friendly company specialising in bespoke lifting equipment with an international client base. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of projects, work closely with clients, and contribute to the continuous improvement of innovative products.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing customised products based on customer requirements.
  • Creating overall design and assembly drawings.
  • Producing detailed manufacturing drawings for in-house or external production.
  • Generating BOMs for special projects and managing procurement as required.
  • Liaising with customers to ensure designs meet their needs.
  • Coordinating with the Workshop Supervisor to deliver projects on time.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of existing products.
About You

You will have:

  • A solid background in mechanical engineering, with expertise in mechanisms, fabricated assemblies, and sheet metalwork.
  • The ability to rapidly design customised variants from standard product ranges.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Skills & Experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD or similar design software.
  • Proven ability to produce detailed manufacturing information accurately and on time.
  • Understanding of relevant machinery standards and legislation.
  • Experience working effectively as part of a small team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
